Board of Education Budget Information

The Board of Education is the authorized state agency responsible for setting educational policy in the district. It consists of seven members. They serve three-year terms and receive no salary or other financial compensation. The Board of Education will hold regular meetings on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month. The meeting will begin at 6:15 p.m. at the Riverhead High School Music Room 123, 700 Harrison Avenue, Riverhead, NY. After the meeting is opened to the public, the Board will immediately recess to executive session to discuss personnel matters until 7:00 p.m. at which time they will reconvene into public session in the Riverhead High School Auditorium (unless otherwise stated), 700 Harrison Avenue, Riverhead, NY. THERE ARE TWO SEATS on the seven-member Riverhead school board are up for re-election this year, those of Amelia Lantz and Jeff Falisi.

Running for two seats on the seven-member BOE are incumbents Amelia Lantz, Jeffrey Falisi, and Christopher Dorr filing to become candidates.

The deadline to file petitions for the unpaid position was April 22. Terms run for three years.

May 21, 2013 -- Budget vote from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. at four voting locations.

2013-2014 BUDGET GOALS as Announced at January 22, 2013 Board of Education Meeting

RESOLVED, that the Board of Education of the Riverhead Central School District hereby adopts the following budget goals for the 2013-2014 school year:

  1. 1) To design and adopt a budget that stays within the 2% Tax Cap limitations.

    2) To design and adopt a budget that preserves programs for RCSD students to the greatest extent possible.

    3) To design and adopt a budget that recognizes the current fiscal reality for Riverhead residents.

    4) To highlight to state leaders in Albany that everincreasing mandates are financially unsustainable for RCSD.
