Six students will be representing Riverhead High
School at the Suffolk County NYSCAME Festival in November. These
students have been selected from among high school music students
throughout Suffolk County and are among the most accomplished
and talented musicians in the county.
The All-County Festival
concert was held at Huntington High School on Friday, November
22. RHS students who will attend the NYSCAME Suffolk High School
All-County Festival include:
Chorus: Jillian Huizing (Soprano), Steven
Shauger (Tenor), Robin Ahrens (Baritone)
Orchestra: Brian Takacs (Contrabass)
Band: Stephanie Roehrig (Flute), Mitchell Michaliger (French Horn)
In
addition, one RHS student, Brian Takacs, will be attending both
the All-County Music Festival and the NYSSMA All-State Festival.
This year will mark the 9th year Brian attended the NYSCAME All-County
Festival. He has been chosen to attend every year since fourth
grade.
 Brian
has also been selected to perform with the All-State Symphony
Orchestra. In order to qualify for this prestigious musical milestone,
Brian scored a perfect 100 at the NYSSMA Solo Competition last
year. In addition to being an outstanding musician, Brian is also
an outstanding scholar. A senior this year, he plans to attend
college next year and major in physics.
RHS junior Stephanie
Roehrig has been selected as an Alternate for NYSSMA All-State.
