Community Input on Space Planning

The Board of Education would like input from the community concerning space planning and building expansion. You can address those comments to the Board via e-mails to diane.scricca@riverhead.net or letters to Superintendent Diane B. Scricca.

Overview

In 2005, the Space Planning Committee presented to the Board an overview of their findings in an effort to aid the Board in its decision as to how to best meet the need to house an expanding student population.

(In 2006 the student population grew by almost 3%--almost a whole percentage point over the projected 2% growth. In a census study that preceded the Planning Committee's report, the student population was projected to grow by 1,700 students over the next 10 years.)

The Board chose Burton, Berenhardt & Smith, P.C., an architectural firm from Patchogue).

In the 2007-08 school year, the whole Board of Education will address space planning as a Board initiative.
