School
Board Recognition Week
The
October 26th School Board Meeting was the culminating event for
the selection of new Superintendent of Schools--a position awarded
to Mr. Paul Doyle. It was also marked by a number of efforts by
the school community to thank the district's school board members
for their "dedication to the students of the district,"
as part of the New York State School Board Recognition Week (October
25-29).
Board members enjoyed readings from students in Rita Maloney's class
from
Riley Avenue, received a number of meals, pins, plaques, flowers,
cards, banners and gifts from the various community groups, schools
and unions
throughout the district, a special presentation by the RHS Steppers,
and a hearty round of applause from those in attendance. The PTO
provided dinner before the board meeting and the Roanoke Avenue
School hosted a breakfast for the school board members.
Prior to the October 26th meeting, school board members participated
in a number of reading, speaking and social engagements throughout
the district during which students, teachers and administrators
thanked them for their service.
"We can't thank these volunteers enough for the difficult job
they do for this
district," concluded Interim Superintendent of Schools Dr.
Joseph Laria, who awarded each of the members a plaque and a sincere
thank you for their service to the district.
Thank you!
