ELECTION OF BOARD MEMBERS

 

AND BUDGET VOTE

 

May 18, 2004

 

6:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.

 

Riverhead High School Gymnasium

 

 

 

Christopher Powers, Attorney, administered the oath of office to the following Inspectors of Election:

 

 

Adele Abrahamsen, Toni Gallo, Deborah Goroleski, Marie Lennon, Barbara Reichel, John Reichel, Patricia Schmitt, Josephine Sideratos, Maryann Soika, and Gail Yeager (Chief Inspector of Election).

 

 

The following poll clerks were present:

 

 

Dorothy Bascomb, Justyna Breitenbach, Holly Chew, Anita Conforti, Ann Engelhardt, Dorothy Exum, Muriel Groneman, Mary Hatcher, Dorothy Haupt, Barbara Jehle, Katherine Konkel, Irene Lachick,  Lenard Makowski, Frances Mapes, Dennis Mueller, Linda Mueller, Eloise Parker, Patricia Raynor, Mary Skiba, Shirley Womack.

 

 

Edward Doherty, Chairperson, opened the meeting at 6:00 a.m. and declared that the polls were open.

 

 

At 8:56 p.m., Mr. Doherty asked if all in attendance had voted.  Mr. Doherty declared the polls closed at 9:00 p.m.

 

 

Mr. Doherty read the Inspector’s Report as presented by Gail Yeager, Chief Inspector of Election.

 

 

Proposition Budget

 

Should the Board of Education of the Riverhead Central School District be authorized to expend the sums set forth in the budget, as proposed, during the 2004-2005 school year and levy the tax therefor?

There were 70 absentee ballots included in the final count.

 

 

 

Mr. Doherty declared the proposed School Budget for 2004-05 as failed.

Proposition I

 

Shall the Board of Education be authorized to acquire by negotiated purchase or by the exercise of eminent domain a parcel of vacant real estate adjoining the northerly boundary of the Phillips Avenue Elementary School designated on the Suffolk County Tax Map as

 

District 0900 Section 141.00 Block 01.00 Lot 010.000, and having dimensions of ± 50 feet by ±1244 feet at a price not to exceed twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000.00), which amount shall include the purchase price and the usual acquisition closing costs and adjustments; and, shall the Board of Education be further authorized to expend unexpended proceeds of bonds authorized at a special district meeting held March 30, 1999 to pay costs of such acquisition.
