Two RHS Juniors Qualify to Continue in National Merit Schoarship
Program
(RIVERHEAD, New York - May, 2006) Two RHS juniors, Tara
McKenna and Erin Belfield, have qualified to continue in
the competition to become Semifinalists and win a National
Merit Scholarship in the 2007 National Merit Scholarship
Program.
These two RHS students scored high enough to meet the standards
of the Selection Index on the 2005 Preliminary SAT/National
Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Their scores placed them
among the highest-scoring 50,0000 students of the approximately
1.4 million who took the test in 2005.
About 16,000 of the 50,000 high performers will be named
Semifinalists next fall. Approximately 34,000 other high
scorers will be designated Commended Students. Only Semifinalists
will have an opportunity to advance in the competition for
the prestigious National Merit Scholarship to be offered
in 2007.
Good luck, Tara and Erin!
