Tsunami Relief Efforts

Student Events for Tsunami Relief

Aquebogue collected snack money for the victims of the tsunami and raised about $300. January 28th Aquebogue also held a “Super Shooter” gym class fund-raiser with pledges for baskets shot and brought in
another
$2,900 for tsunami relief.
Their grand total so far is $3,235.61.

The money they raised will be given to the U.S. Fund for UNICEF.

The students at Riley Avenue also donated their Friday snack and ice cream money in January to the tsunami victims. They raised $1,460.50. The money will be used to purchase
"School in a Box" kits. Each box contains enough school supplies for 80 students.
The students are learning that every little bit can help, and that everyone can help!
The money/boxes will be donated through UNICEF.

Students at the Roanoke Avenue School handed over a check for $472.82 to a representative of the Red Cross on Friday, February 18th at 2:00 P.M. at a school assembly.

Everybody at Phillips emptied their piggy banks, donated their ice cream money, tooth fairy money, and through the concerted efforts of a concerned community came up with a grand total of $1,522 in 6 weeks.  Their donations will also go to the Red Cross.

The RHS Student Government is selling RHS Blue Wave “cling-on” stickers for $2.00 each. If you’d like to donate, call 369-6724. They still need help on this effort. So far, they've sold about $200 worth.
If you can HELP, CALL 369-6724!

The RHS Key Club held a Talent Show at the Vail-Leavitt Theater and raised $500 for UNICEF's tsunami relief fund.

Students at the Pulaski Street School also spent much of the month of January fund-raising for the victims of the tsunami and gathering supplies for people in the community. For tsunami victims, two classes raffled off donated bikes and raised $500. The money will be given to Doctors Without Borders. Ms. Jones’, Ms. Martin’s and Ms. Belmonte’s classes held bake sales and raised over $700. Their total so far is over $1,200.

The Middle School's fund-raiser sponsored by the Future Nurses Club took place on Monday, February 14th. It was called "HAVE A HEART". The members of the Future Nurses Club made 600 chocolate heart-shaped lollipops and sold them for 50 cents each during the lunch hours, raising a total of $300. They've also been collecting change in the school's main office. The money they raise will be given to UNICEF.

These are just the events that have been reported so far.

THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU WHO HAVE AND WILL SUPPORT THESE EFFORTS!
