"Participate in Your Child's Education--Get to Know His/Her Teacher"
(September 7, 2012) Do you know who was honored at the Superintendent's Conference Day Celebration as this year’s Secondary Teacher of the Year? Ann Priapi. Joanne Niebergall was chosen as the Elementary Teacher of the Year. Ms. Niebergall teaches at the Aquebogue Elementary School. (See First Day of School Video.)
Mrs. Priapi is also one of the teachers that parents and guardians will be visiting during the Middle School’s Back-to-School Night on October 4th at 7:00PM.
Mrs. Priapi came to teaching after another career as a biological laboratory technician on Plum Island.
"Ask me anything about African Swine Fever," joked Mrs. Priapi during a previous Back-to-School Night at the Middle School.
Mrs. Priapi started in the district as a teacher's assistant at the Phillips Avenue School and then taught science at the district's Alternative School. This year, she will once again be teaching science at the Middle School.
"I think it's wonderful that we have a mix of second career teachers in our schools, especially in science," shares Ms. Pekar. "They bring a unique overview of how education is applied in the real world to the process of educating our students."
