HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
(RIVERHEAD,
New York - December 24, 2005) Caring was November’s Character
Education trait, and TEAMWORK is December’s trait. There
have been many events and opportunities throughout the holiday
season for RCSD students to exercise TEAMWORK while they CARE
for those in need in their community.
There are Angel Trees (from which students and staff take an
angel card describing a particular family in need of care and
concern for whom they will buy presents) and Giving Trees on
which students and staff hang warm mittens, hats, socks and
gloves for kids in the community.
Riley's kids (the before school child care program) organized
a food drive and made baskets before Thanksgiving; the Interact
Club working with the Riverhead Rotary and aided by the RHS
NJROTC will organize and distribute over 200 Holiday food baskets
containing a turkey and all the trimmings of a holiday meal;
as part of a holiday concert and Patricia Shih's Caring for
Kids program, the students and staff at Roanoke made a large
food donation to Long Island Cares.
Trips to nursing homes, caroling, decorating, holiday concerts,
Toys for Tots gift drives, food drives, coat drives and many
other efforts by our schools will help make this season a little
brighter for ALL of the families in the Riverhead community.
Happy Holidays!
