(February
21, 2008 – Riverhead, NY) Annual music festivals
offer Riverhead School District students an opportunity to perform with
some of the best music students on Long Island. Students participating
in the various music festivals in the first two months of 2008 are listed
below.
The Long Island String Festival Association (LISFA)
The Elementary LISFA Festival was held at Elwood Middle
School. RCSD had two students in
the 6th – 7th grade orchestra, Danny O’Neill from the middle
school and Lydia Keiffert from Pulaski Street School.
The
Secondary LISFA Festival was held at Ward Melville
HS. RCSD had three students in the 8th - 9th grade orchestra:
Juliana Marcucci from the middle school and Emily Cardillo and
Alexa White from the High School. Alexa White (Grade
9) was seated first chair viola in the 8th – 9th grade orchestra.
In addition to their studies in the district, Alexa White and Juliana
Marcucci study privately with Marguerite Volonts. Eddie O’Neill,
who plays bass and takes private lessons with Steve Fayette, performed
with the 10th - 12th grade orchestra.
SCMEA Jazz Day

The Middle School Show Choir under the direction of
Nadine Greenberg and the Junior Varsity Jazz Ensemble
under the direction of Crystal Crespo performed at the SCMEA Jazz Day
in February at Sayville High School.
