RCSD COMMUNITY ADVISORY COUNCIL
First Meeting, Thursday, January 27, RHS Library, 7:00-8:30 P.M.

Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools of the Riverhead Central School District, Paul Doyle, and with the approval of the Board of Education, interested members of the Riverhead community are invited to join the RCSD Community Advisory Council, which will be created in January, 2005.

“The format for the meetings and the topics addressed will be shaped by the Council members themselves,” explained Superintendent Doyle. “I want to open up the lines of communication between the school and the community and address the issues that are raised by the Council.”

In addition, at the December 7th meeting of the Board of Education, Superintendent Doyle proposed setting time aside from 10:00 A.M. to 12 Noon the day before the regularly scheduled Board of Education meetings to address personally in his office any agenda items or items of concern that community members might have relative to the schools. The next scheduled meeting for the Board of Education is January 11, 2005.

"The RCSD Community Advisory Council and these personal meetings are efforts to encourage community dialogue with the superintendent," explained Mr. Doyle, who will then share those concerns with the Board of Education and the community during the “time for the Superintendent” at the Board of Education meetings.

Anyone interested in becoming a member of the RCSD Community Advisory Council should contact the Superintendent’s office at 369-6717.
