Living
History at Pulaski
Librarian
Rose D'Orsogna
(with the help of the Riverhead VFW commander) invited veterans
to speak to the students as part of her "living lessons"
in American history series. Fifth
graders study American history, and the fifth graders at the Pulaski
Street School spent a period listening to veterans of the armed
services as part of the school's celebration of Veteran's Day. (November,

Ribbon
Cutting on Phase I of Phillips Playground
It
was a cold and windy November day, but the eager students at the
Phillips Avenue school cheered enthusiastically as Interim Principal
Charles Venezia called on them to thank all of the parent association
(PAPA) volunteers who worked so hard to raise the funds for Phase
I of their new playground. Another cheer went up for the district's
maintenance workers who assembled all of the equipment.

The
Riley Ripple, November 2004
Thanks to our parents' association for a successful book fair. The
next RAPA meeting is on November 10. We are proud of the fact that
so many parents volunteer their time to participate in the varied
activities at Riley. As you know, no school can be truly excellent
without this kind of home/school connection. Have a happy and restful
Thanksgiving!
