This letter was read to Board of
Education President, Lori Montefusco, at the June 20, 2006
Board of Education Meeting by Laurie Downs, the President
of the PTO Executive Council:
June, 2006
The parents of the PTO Council want to thank you for the
six years of service and dedication you have given our district
as school board member and president. As parents and family
members ourselves, we understand the precious time that
you and your family have sacrificed in order for you to
serve.
The parents acknowledge that the last six years haven't
been easy--you've gone through triumphs and defeats, disagreements
and arguments, even humiliation. Friendships have gone bitter
and new ones have been formed.
The parents of the PTO Executive Council have asked
me to relay to you that you are leaving with their respect
and sincere thanks. You know everyone says a school board
member holds a thankless job, but not tonight, Lori. Thank
you for six years of your life and dedication. Thank you
to your family for sharing you with us.
Good luck with what life brings. Remember the door swings
both ways, this is not goodbye--it is so long.
