The Garfield Langhorn Memorial Garden Dedication
The Pulaski Street School
would like to thank Long Island Compost for donating the labor and materials for the new Garfield Langhorn Memorial Garden built around the flagpole in front of the school. Pfc. Garfield Langhorn, who sacrificed his life by covering a grenade with his body in the Vietnam War, was an RHS graduate.
On Saturday, May 8th, Pulaski Street students finished the planting and the school and community held a short dedication ceremony in the garden. Dr. Pinckney greeted and thanked LI Compost CEO, (below far left) Charles Vigliotti, for a beautiful living tribute to Pfc. Langhorn. Board of Education President Mary Ellen Harkin and (above L-R) Senator LaValle, Riverhead Supervisor Cardinale and Assemblyperson Acampora also spoke. (above far R) Pfc. Langhorn’s mother accepted a proclamation on behalf of the family from Senator LaValle.
