2010 NATIONAL FOREIGN LANGUAGE HONOR SOCIETY INDUCTEES

(May, 2010) The National Foreign Language Honor Societies held their induction ceremonies at Riverhead High School. Twenty-five students were inducted into the French Honor Society; eleven students were inducted into the Latin Honor Society; and forty-two students were inducted into the Spanish Honor Society for a total of 78 students.
In order to qualify for the National Foreign Language Honor Society, a student must maintain a 90% or higher throughout three years of study of a language other than English and maintain an overall average of 85% or higher.
Assistant Principal Mrs. Dali Rastello began the ceremony by greeting and congratulating the students and their guests. Samantha Sikder spoke about her experiences as a Rotary exchange student in India in the 2008-09 school year. Nuria Wright from Belgium also spoke about her year as a foreign exchange student at Riverhead High School. Four additional creative endeavors at this year's ceremony included: (1) a presentation by the Latin Officers; (2) a musical presentation by Katie and Courtney Blasl; and (3) and (4) two video presentations which included the AP Spanish students lipsynching to a Spanish song.
