Suffolk Zone Award Winners
(November
2007) CONGRATULATIONS to this year’s
recipients of the prestigious New York State Association
for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance –
Suffolk Zone Award, Ashley Bell and John Andrejack, both
seniors at Riverhead High School. The winners will be honored
at a dinner at East Wind in Wading River on December 5,
2007.
Ashley Bell maintains an A+ average in Physical Education
and a B+ average overall. She has received the Presidential
Award for Fitness every year since ninth grade. She earned
All Division honors in Field Hockey and All State status
in Track and Field. She has been a team captain in Field
Hockey, Track and Basketball.
Off the fields of play, Ashley Bell has been a member of
the Foreign Language Honor Society, Athletic Leaders Club,
Yearbook Club and French Club. She plans to study mathematics
but is still undecided on a college.
John Andrejack maintains a 100 average in Physical Education
and has a 99.34 average overall. He ranks 13th in the Class
of 2008.
John Andrejack played Football and Lacrosse and is on the
Wrestling team. He was also a captain of the Wrestling team.
Off the field, he is a member of the National Honor Society
and the Foreign Language Honor Society.
At Riverhead High School John Andrejack has become a positive
leader and role model for all to emulate. His most memorable
moment at Riverhead was coaching and mentoring his younger
brother, Mark, in the Kid Wrestling Program. John plans
to attend Wagner College and study biology.
The Suffolk Zone Award criteria demand a high level of physical
fitness, strong participation in school and community activities,
evidence of leadership roles, community involvement and
academic excellence.
