RHS
National Honor Society Inductees

(May,
2007) The
inductees into Riverhead High School's chapter
of the National Honor Society for the 2006-07
school year are listed below. The National Honor Society
is more than just an honor roll. Based on national guidelines,
the local chapter establishes rules for membership that
are based upon a student's outstanding performance in
the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, and character.
Baily Ince, the president of the National Honor Society,
presented the opening remarks and led the inductees
in the pledge during the Candle Ceremony. Other outgoing
officers include: Kelsey Stark-Clancy (VP), Christina
Link (Sec.) and Katrina Roehrig (Treas.). Two outstanding
accomplishments of the National Honor Society during
the 2006-07 school year included raising $1,600 for
St. Jude's Children's Hospital and many hours of peer
tutoring throughout the year.
“Forty-three students were inducted into the National
Honor Society this year," explained one of the
group's advisor, English teacher Laural Olsen. "We're
hoping they will be a great group--energetic, enthusiastic,
and creative. We're looking forward to a wonderful year
with them."
The mystery honorary member inducted this year was chemistry
teacher Dr. Lawrence Mandresh, who was given the honorary
membership by the students for his inspiring and caring
concern for their success in science and in life.

and were inducted into Riverhead High School's chapter
