Honor Society. Allyson is an outstanding Latin scholar.
She won first place in the Latin Declamatio contest in the
fall and took second place in the Latin Certamen this spring
as a member of a team of four RHS advanced Latinists.
RHS Latin teacher Dr. Jeff Greenberger writes, “Allyson
Bunch is one of the singularly most inspired, dynamic, and
driven young adults in the generation of students I have
taught over the course of two decades. She possesses a rare
intelligence, with a nimble wit and a sharp tongue to match.”
Allyson is not only smart; she is also talented. She has
had several lead roles in Blue Masques productions. She
had the lead role in “Up the Down Stair Case”
this fall and was a lead in “Urinetown” this
spring. Allyson also sings in the Chamber Choir and is on
the Labyrinth staff.
Outside of school, Allyson has spent several summers as
a counselor at the Renaissance Kid and Jr. Camps. She also
participates in the “Big Brothers, Big Sisters’
program.
Allyson was accepted at all of the colleges she applied
to—a list that included Barnard, Smith and Wellesley.
She has chosen to attend Bryn Mawr (with a full scholarship)
and plans to major in Classical Studies. She hopes to become
a Latin teacher someday. Allyson is the fourth Valedictorian
from Riverhead to attend a top-ranked college and major
in Classical Studies in the last four years. (2007, Tara
McKenna, Classics at Duke; 2006 Kirstin Krusell, Classics
