What Counseling
Services are Available at RHS?
Riverhead High School students are served by counsellors in our
Guidance
Office and School
to Career program.
In addition to these services the Urban League, under the direction
of Donna Vestal, offers guidance services to students. Her phone
number is 369-7798.
Parents are also invited to discuss any matter of concern by calling
the Guidance Office at (631) 369-6728 or Connie Gevinski, the director
of the School to Career progam at (516) 381-1653.
Counsellors provide the following services:
Educational
Counseling
- provide help in choosing appropriate courses and making educational
plans
- give assistance with study skills and attendance
- arrange peer tutoring for students who have a need
- provide information about post-secondary education and training
requirements
- assist with post-secondary registration
- assist with scholarship information and with scholarship applications
Career
Counseling
- assist students to identify and explore their interests and abilities
- provide access to the Internet database through the RHS career
counselling
Website
- assist students to set career goals and plan strategies to reach
them.
Personal
Counseling
- assist students who are experiencing personal difficulties which
may interfere with their academic, personal, social or family life.
