
The
RHS STAR Academy is a small
learning academy. STAR is an acronym for the Academy's motto: "Start Today, Achieve Results". The goal of the program is to offer students an atmosphere that will promote academic success, while addressing individual needs and learning styles. The program has been designed to focus on its students' positive attributes and to empower students to become productive, contributing members of society.
The STAR Academy seeks to help its students develop their
unique gifts and potential and provides a learning environment that
fosters five STAR goals: good attendance, a positive attitude, academic success, the ability to be self-motivated, and good citizenship skills.
School-to-Career Program and Teacher Facilitator
The STAR Academy helps students meet coursework goals, assists them with personal problems and, acts as the school-to-work coordinator, and works with students to find internships, work programs, and set school-to-career goals.
English teacher Emily Puccio is the Teacher Facilitator for the STAR Academy. Collaboration is interwoven into the team-building exercises that are part of the STAR Academy's foundation. The teachers and staff maintain open-lines of communication with the high school, parents and the community.

Things to consider:
If your child’s schedule begins at 1st or 2nd, they will take the AM high school bus.
If your child’s schedule begins at 3rd period, they will take the STAR bus.
If your child’s schedule ends at 7th period, they will take a PM STAR bus home.
If your child’s schedule ends at 9th period, they will take the PM high school bus.
If your child’s schedule begins at 8th period, they will take the PM STAR bus.
If your child’s schedule ends at 11th period, they will take the PM STAR bus home.
Lastly, there are no PM STAR classes on Friday.
Students, except those going to PM BOCES, are asked to leave campus after 7th period.
