Riverhead High School's AP Physics class recently competed in the first annual pumpkin chucking contest at a catapult competition sponsored by Cornell Cooperative Extension held at the Suffolk County Farm in Yaphank on Nov. 1st.
They won! The class competed against nine other schools, community groups and father/son teams.
They built the catapult to throw pumpkins, and it shot the pumpkin 140 feet and 3 inches!

According to Physics teacher Kim Skinner, "There are 20 students in the class and each student contributed time and energy to the project. We had a lot of fun and learned some physics along the way."
