ACADEMIC AWARDS

MORE RIVERHEAD STUDENTS ARE TAKING MORE AP EXAMS EACH YEAR! In 2007, 140 students took 210 AP Exams, and, in 2011, 309 students took 548 exams. in that same time frame, AP students with scores of 3 or higher increased from 87 in 2007 to 146 in 2011. Most colleges will grant college credit to high school students who earn at least a score of 3 on an AP exam. RCSD was named to the College Board's AP District Honor Roll. [...]

CLUBS, TEAMS AND ACTIVITIES

RHS offers a Classics and Latin club, as well as a full line up of Art, Drama, Music, AP, Honors and College level courses, NJROTC, and a full range of junior varsity, varsity and intramural sports teams. In addition, the school provides a variety of clubs to meet the diverse extracurricular needs of its student body. An academic Wall of Fame honors academic achievement. RHS is proud of its athletic teams, intramural programs, and special physical fitness programs. [...]

STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS

Riverhead High School produces students who have "heart"! Its student body learns to respect diversity and has one of the few Councils for Unity on Long Island. RHS students also have a strong reputation for community service. RHS is very proud of the achievements of their NJROTC unit, which has achieved national recognition. COLLEGE AND CAREER READINESS

The COMMON CORE STATE STANDARDS are a new set of expectations designed to ensure all students achieve college and career readiness. Forty-six states have now adopted these shared standards so their students can compete and succeed on a world stage. New York is one of those states. College and career success is also impacted by opportunities in teams, clubs and extracurricular activities.
