The Field Mice in the Seasons

One autumn day in the pasture,
The field mice slaved away.
Collecting food for the winder
Which had come to stay.

Working like bees on a warm spring day,
Foraging without a thought for play,
For the cold white winter,
Which had come to stay,

The storm clouds showed the signal,
The willows shrank in fear,
The winter that was coming,
Was finally now here.

The mice were falcons soaring,
They flew across the grass,
The murderous cold white winter,
Had come to kill at last!

After months of hiding,
The weather spoke of warmth.
The murderous cold white winter,
Had retreated to the North.

The field mice ran out happily!
Chattering and scattering with glee!
For the sweet spring air snag through the air,
Tousling the grass and trees!

The spring flew by with great speed,
Like a falcon in the air
Then things started to warm up,
The heat was everywhere!

As autumn showed its chilly face,
The field mice worked again.
For the never ending cycle,
Has just started once again.
