Riverhead
Middle School has approximately 695 students in grades
7 and 8. There are 110 professional staff.

RMS has a culturally diverse student population, with a teaching
staff of seasoned veterans andnew, energetic, young professionals, including their Assistant Principal, Dr. Steve Hudson (pictured at right).
All students are assigned eight academic periods per day and a lunch. English Language Arts (ELA) and Math for most students meet daily for 41 minutes and every other day for an additional 41 minutes (82 minute block on an A or B day). This additional instructional time is designed for greater opportunities for teachers to individually meet students' academic needs, imbed Academic Intervention Services (AIS) and provide acceleration strategies that will ultimately lead to greater student success.
There is a strong commitment to a team approach at RMS:
Teachers
and students work in teams.
- Teachers get to know their students and to share curriculum
materials and ideas with each other.
- Parents are encouraged to contact teachers on the team concerning
their child's learning needs.
- The
assistant principal is Steve Hudson.
