(October
2007) The
Riverhead Garden Club has adopted the students at the Roanoke Avenue
School as part of their educational outreach program. This fall inspired
by the theme "Harvest of Arts and Flowers," Pat Carey and
Kathy Taylor, master gardeners and co-chairs of the education unit of
the Garden Club, helped students create dried flower arrangements with
an accompanying watercolor painting of a window scene called "In
the Studio" for the Hofstra Flower Show. Competing in the Intermediate
(ages 8-12) student competition at the show, Roanoke students brought
home a bounty of winning awards:
Room

Garcia, 3rd Jason Yeung, Honorable Mention Karol Danowski.
