FAVORITE POEMS

"This unit encourages students to look at the world with a 'poet's eye' and value its worth," states Mrs. Kent. Above is a sample of some of the "favorite" poems that students in each of the three second grade classes at Roanoke Avenue School chose for their poetry books. Some of the students used their favorite poet as a mentor poet and their poetry reflects some of the same conventions of poetry. "The Poetry Jam was great!" states Hollique Smith-Johnson. "It was better than T.V."
