POETRY PROFILES
This is a sample of some of the "Poetry Profiles" of students in Mrs. Kent's class. "The students in my class love to read poetry. They especially enjoy poets such as Shel Silverstein and Bruce Lansky, who write humorous poems," stated Mrs. Kent. The students studied the elements of poetry: simile, metaphor, rhyme, alliteration, onomatopoeia, and repetition. "We learned the elements of poetry; we read a lot of poetry, and the more they read, the more motivated they were to try their hand at writing their own poems. They did a terrific job. I'm so proud of them," she concluded. (The Poetry Profiles were one chapter in their 3 chapter poetry books.)
