Dear Phillips Avenue Families,
We welcome you back to Phillips Avenue School for the 2009-2010 year. Our dedicated faculty and staff are anticipating a wonderful year for you and your children. Our academic programs will continue to engage and challenge all of our students. We encourage you to be involved in your child’s education by being in contact with teachers and participating in events at Phillips Avenue. We believe that communication between parents, students and teachers is critical in assuring student success.
As you prepare for the school year, please be aware of the district policy regarding uniforms. See the district website for information and opt out forms if necessary. (You can also obtain a form at the main office or by requesting one from your child’s teacher). Please contact the administration at Phillips if you have any questions or concerns.
A goal for our school year is to increase communication with our families. Keep an eye on the Phillips Avenue website! We’ll update the site with important information and photographs of school events. Also, we’ll be distributing a newsletter every other month with exciting news about Phillips.
The administration, faculty and staff will encourage students to do their best in reaching academic goals and to actively participate in a respectful and safe school environment. We promote fair and consistent discipline while teaching students skills and strategies for improving behavior and making better choices. At Phillips Avenue we value the differences among our children. Our experiences have led us to believe that all children can learn and that their learning experiences are enriched by a team effort of faculty, staff and parents.
Your interest and concern in your child’s education is vital to his or her success at Phillips. We look forward to the opening of school with great excitement. We wish you and your family a successful school year.
