COUNSELORS INTRODUCE JUNIORS TO NAVIANCE
RHS counselors met with members of the Junior class in computer labs to formally introduce them to the Naviance software program, and demonstrated how it can be used for college and career planning. Students created their own accounts which they can now access from any computer 24 hours a day. As a pre-cursor to the formal Junior Planning Conferences that officially began on April 1st, students were taught how Naviance will become their main tool for college, scholarship and/or career searches. Students now have the opportunity to create a list of schools they are considering, and then, ultimately move them to a list of schools they are applying to. Once a student applies to a school, the system allows for teachers, coaches and counselors to upload recommendation letters. Counselors can then electronically send all of a student’s supporting documents including transcripts, essays, recommendations and profiles to over 5000 colleges and universities across the country and throughout the world. Mr. Gassar has scheduled a series of Naviance parent nights starting in April to introduce the program to RHS 11th grade parents as well.

STUDENT PROGRAMING
Student Programming Although we experienced some delays due to the harsh winter season, we are nearly finished with student scheduling for next year. Starting back in February, counselors began meeting with students to complete course requests for the 2015 – 2016 school year. Together they reviewed the student‘s Report Card and Transcript in an effort to create a program that both challenges students and is aligned with their personal interests and passions. We will be mailing home copies of the student course requests to our families in Mid-April. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or need to make adjustments. We are happy to hear from you.
