PUBLIC HEARING ON VETERANS' EXEMPTION TO PROPERTY TAXES
Tuesday, April 22, 2014, 7PM, Riverhead High School, 700 Harrison Avenue, Riverhead, NY

On April 22, 2014, the Board of Education of the Riverhead Central School District will hold a public hearing on granting the basic maximum Veterans' Exemption to property taxes. The hearing will take place at 7 pm at Riverhead High School.

"The Board has discussed this exemption during its last two meetings, including receiving information from the property assessors as to the impact the exemption will have on the taxpayers of the District," Superintendent Nancy Carney said. "The Board invites interested members of the public to attend the meeting and join in the discussion."

Following the hearing, the Board is expected to vote on the issue during the regularly scheduled Board meeting that evening.

TURN OFF YOUR TELEVISION AND TURN ON YOUR IMAGINATION
Monday, April 21 - April 27 2014 -- Roanoke Avenue Elementary School

It’s that time of year again…time to turn off your televisions and turn on your imaginations! Roanoke Avenue Elementary School will be celebrating “Turn Off Your TV Week” from April 21st through April 27th. Research shows that by decreasing TV viewing (and other screen-based entertainment) students will be more attentive and more academically successful

On Monday, April 21st, we will be kicking off this week with an in-school “Book Swap” for the 3rd and 4th graders and a special “Read Aloud” for grades K-2. Also, to celebrate “Turn Off Your TV Week,” we invite all Roanoke families to join us on Tuesday, April 22nd from 6-7pm for a “Milk and Cookies Night,” on the Roanoke Elementary field. Please bring your favorite books, a blanket to sit on, and your families! An “Outdoor Family Fun Night” will be held on Thursday, April 24th from 6-7pm. See the attached flyers regarding both of these exciting events.
