Riverhead Central School District students seamlessly transitioned back in school on Sept. 5. Among them, the kindergarten Class of 2030 and the senior class of 2018.

On their first day of school, bright-eyed kindergartners, met their teachers and prepared for a year filled with learning-based play, while high school seniors, with sights set on graduation, embarked on their last year of school.

Students were greeted with smiles from administrators, teachers and support staff, some of which were new faces. This school year, the district hired 70 new employees, including Superintendent of Schools Dr. Aurelia L. Henriquez, Director of STEM Kathleen Scholand and Director of Fine Arts Lauren Lewonka. Aquebogue Elementary School also features a new assistant principal, Vanessa Williams.

Of the start of the 2017-2018 school year, Dr. Henriquez said, “The year is off to an amazing start. Our administrators, teachers and support staff are looking forward to ensuring that all our students continue to excel and meet educational milestones through engaging learning lessons. I am thrilled to be a part of this team.”
