Throughout the month of December, student-musicians across the Riverhead Central School District performed spirited holiday pieces at a variety of venues.

In addition to the annual concerts held by every school, select ensembles performed and sang throughout the Riverhead community.

Representing Riverhead Middle School, the show choir brought cheer to audience members at the Flanders Senior Center, while the Riverhead High School chamber choir invited wide-eyed children to sing along to “The 12 Days of Christmas” at the Jamesport Meeting House, and the chamber orchestra and jazz band performed for the Rotary Club of Riverhead. Riverhead Middle School’s show choir also sang at the Truth Community Church tree lighting, while Aquebogue Elementary School’s chorus raised their voices at the Jamesport tree lighting. Other performances at the elementary level included second- and fourth-graders from Phillips Avenue serenading hospital volunteers at Giorgio’s in Baiting Hollow, and the Roanoke Avenue chorus entertaining at their school’s annual holiday wreath-lighting ceremony.

“We could not be prouder of our student-musicians as they shared the gift of music with the community this month. They’ve brought joy to so many, and impressed everyone with their hard work, dedication and professionalism,” said Lauren Lewonka, director of fine arts, K-12.
