Putting their striking skills on display, members of the Riverhead High School wrestling team brought home several awards from the Armstrong Cup, held at Earl L. Vandermeulen High School on Dec. 16.

“It was an outstanding showing by the Riverhead wrestling team,” said Brian Sacks, director of health, physical education and athletes.

Those awarded include: first-place winners Shireef Leonard (285), Mark Matyka (113) and Carlos Perez (220); second-place winners Lawrence Bishop (170) and Chris Debose (182); fourth-place winner Brandon Riccio (120); and fifth-place winners Dominic Bossey (132), Jared Cawley (120), Ralph Gray (152) and Sean Prunty (170).

Additionally, Gray, a senior, was awarded for the most pins in the least amount of time after pinning his opponent four times in 3 minutes, 52 seconds.
