Students at Riley Avenue Elementary School in the Riverhead Central School District showed off their science smarts at the school’s annual science fair on March 29.

The event featured a variety of science projects by students in grades K-4, with topics ranging from polymer permeability and mysteries to water temperature and dirt.  

This year’s fair winners were: Julianna Pace, kindergarten; Nicholas Gigante, first grade; Madeline Burns, second grade; Grace Belmonte, third grade; and Angelina Pace, fourth grade. 

The winning students now have the opportunity to compete at Brookhaven National Laboratory’s annual science fair on May 5.
