As music blasted across the Pulaski Street Elementary School gymnasium on Sept. 25, students ran in different directions to accomplish a set of tasks before the timer ran out. The session was part of Project Fitness, a character education program at the school.

Project Fitness provides an opportunity for students to use team building and physical fitness skills to accomplish various goals, explained coach Michelle Santoro. The objectives are different for each of the 10 sessions held throughout the year, which take place during gym periods. 

As part of the Sept. 25 session, groups of students were required to work together to build structures using paper cups. The task also included calisthenics.
