Wearing Mad Scientist ID badges, Riverhead elementary school students, along with their families, participated in a “Full STEAM ahead” escape room experience on March 19 at Riverhead High School.

As part of the interactive event, attendees navigated several classrooms where they worked together to solve puzzles related to STEAM – science, technology, engineering, the arts and math. If they successfully solved puzzles, including math equations, creating a path for an Ozobot and building a wooden car, they were given a code to unlock a mystery lockbox.

The event, which was part of the district’s Parent University series, aimed to not only engage students and their families, but also showcase the districts STEAM programs.

The Parent University series aims to connect parents with school and community resources and provide information related to challenges parents may face. Additional workshops and seminars featuring a variety of speakers are planned for later this school year.
