Unity Through Puzzle Pieces

Unity Through Puzzle Pieces

To raise awareness about autism, students at Riley Avenue Elementary School in the Riverhead Central School District are continuing a five-year tradition by making puzzle-piece necklaces for their peers.

For the project, spearheaded by teacher Marielle De Gaetano, the students are painting the puzzle pieces in colorful hues, adorning them with glitter and stringing them into one-of-a-kind jewelry creations. All students will receive the necklaces on April 1 and wear them to school every Monday throughout the month in recognition of April as National Autism Awareness Month.
