During their library time, students at Pulaski Street Elementary School in the Riverhead Central School District engaged in an online program that related their math and science knowledge to sports. Using hockey game simulations, they explored real-life applications of science, engineering and math concepts, such as calculating the area and volume of an ice rink, understanding the energy of a falling puck, and learning about the speed and velocity of hockey players on skates. “The students were fully engaged and enjoyed the lesson,” said library teacher Amelia Estevez-Creedon.
