Students at Riverhead High School and Middle School who are members of the Riverhead Youth Coalition met with Suffolk County lawmakers on April 3 to discuss concerns about the growing issue of teen vaping.

During the session, the 14 teens provided Legislators Al Krupski and Bridget Fleming with insight into teen vaping and learned about what actions the county is taking to reduce youth access to vape products and other electronic nicotine delivery systems. The teens also suggested legislation that would limit vape advertisements on storefront signage.

“We were able to share our personal experiences from what’s been going on throughout the community and in our schools to better Suffolk County,” said sophomore Imani Thomas.
