The Riverhead Central School District is proud of its alumni, many of whom have gone on to illustrious careers and successful endeavors after graduation. One such stellar example is Dr. Katie Skinner, a 2010 graduate and valedictorian who has gone on to become an assistant professor of robotics at the University of Michigan.

Following high school, Dr. Skinner attended Princeton University, from which she graduated with honors in 2014 with a dual major in mechanical and aerospace engineering and a certificate in computer programming. From there, she attended the University of Michigan, where she was part of the first cohort of eight students to be accepted into the school’s new robotics program. It is also where she completed her doctorate in robotics. Aside from serving as an assistant professor, she is now working on a two-year postdoctoral fellowship at Georgia Tech.
