Dear Riverhead Families,
The Riverhead Central School District Board of Education voted unanimously on May 28, 2019 to appoint Bryan Miltenberg as the new Principal of Aquebogue Elementary School, effective August 5, 2019. He will replace retiring Principal Phil Kent and clearly has “big shoes to fill!”

After several interview levels, which included members of the Board of Education, parents, teachers, and staff from Aquebogue Elementary School, Mr. Miltenberg emerged as a top pick each time. We are thrilled that Mr. Miltenberg is joining the Riverhead Central School District. He brings with him a wealth of experience.

Since 2017, Miltenberg, a resident of West Sayville, has been employed as the Assistant Principal of Islip Middle School, where he has worked to boost parent engagement and enhance instruction. Prior to Islip, he was the director of academic intervention at M.S. 323 The Scholars’ Academy in Rockaway Park, Queens. He began his career as a teacher at Wantagh High School, then served as creator/facilitator of online courses for teachers for the New York City Department of Education Division of Innovative Professional Development. He is also published, having penned over 100 articles on school leadership, literacy and discipline, as well as on teacher teams, co-teaching, time management and using digital texts.

Miltenberg holds a Bachelor of Arts in American studies from Columbia University, a Master of Science in English education from Queens College and a New York State School Building Leader certificate from the College of Saint Rose’s Center for Integrated Teacher Education. He is currently working on his doctorate in educational leadership from Drexel University, with an anticipated completion date of 2022.

“It is a tremendous honor to be able to serve the Riverhead community,” Miltenberg said. “I look forward to joining the Aquebogue TEAM [Together Everyone Achieves More] and working with staff and families to create amazing experiences for all of our Aquebogue students.”

Please join me in welcoming Mr. Miltenberg and with true Blue Wave pride. Let us support him so that together, we are all successful!
