Eighth grade art students at Riverhead Middle School are preparing for a year of art classes by designing portfolios that will be used to store their projects.

Art teacher Veronique Galyardt explained that the assignment will help get students’ artistic juices flowing as they are encouraged to design portfolios featuring their individual interests.

By the end of the school year, the students’ portfolios will be filled with self-portraits, color theory paintings, perspective work and a money collage that teaches the value of a dollar, among other works of art.
