Mindful in Middle School

Riverhead Middle School students are learning stress management and reduction skills as part of a new mindfulness program led by health teacher Lindsay Lindenbaum. 

“The program brings mindfulness to the classroom and is specifically geared for school-age students,” said Lindenbaum. 

As part of the program, students have been practicing deep breathing techniques in health class, along with tableside stretching and guided imagery. 

The new initiative is made possible through a free classroom subscription to the Calm app, provided by the Calm Schools Initiative.
