Riverhead High School’s annual spirit week celebrations came to an exhilarating end on Nov. 2 as the Blue Waves celebrated homecoming with a parade of school colors down Main Street, followed by an action-packed football game against Walt Whitman.

The parade kicked off at noon with the high school marching band leading the way. In procession were the NJROTC, a sea of cheerleaders and colorful floats accompanied by students dressed in costume. This year, the freshmen featured a “Frankenstein” float, the sophomores depicted a scene from “Romeo and Juliet,” the juniors based their design on “Snow White” and the seniors replicated the land of Oz from “The Wizard of Oz.”

As the football game got underway on the crisp autumn afternoon, cheers erupted as senior football players and cheerleaders were recognized. The Blue Waves then took to the field, coming out on top with a 37-14 win.
