To provide male students in the Riverhead Central School District with positive role models, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Aurelia Henriquez hosted a “Young Men on the Rise” program on Nov. 6.

Male students from across the district were invited to hear from a number of prominent male community members who spoke about the challenges they overcame during their lives. Speakers included Riverhead High School social worker Antonio Diaz and teachers Sal Loverde and Darren Dunn, as well as several school security guards and community members.

“It is so important for us to provide students with opportunities to meet with positive male role models, as they can have a profound effect on a student’s life,” said Dr. Henriquez.
