Students in Jillian Gallo’s kindergarten class at Aquebogue Elementary School recently learned how to make scientific predictions and investigate their hypotheses through a pumpkin exploration activity.
As part of the lesson, students experimented with pumpkins, creating a geoboard of shapes using golf tees, rubber bands and wooden mallets. After removing the golf tees, students decided to test which pumpkin would make a better volcano, one with holes or one without. To complete their scientific experiment, students then checked to see which predictions were correct.
