On Superintendent’s Conference Day, Aquebogue Elementary School welcomed over a dozen new staff members to the Aquebogue Elementary team.
In addition to forming connections and emphasizing the social, emotional and academic growth of all students, the staff began the event by giving new staff members the opportunity to learn about our school from the most important voices possible, the students.
Several fourth grade students who are also student-members of the school’s Compass Team joined the group to share their “One Word” perspectives on what makes their school special. Their elaboration on why they chose “fun,” “comfortable” and “wonderful” was memorable for both the students and the new staff alike.
Concluding the day’s events, students shared their advice for new staff on making a big difference for students, which included “Stay patient with all of us, even if we’re struggling,” “Always make sure we’re comfortable” and “Help us, but remember to let us be independent too.”
