Board of Education Receives Book Donation From District’s Own Best-Selling Author

October 28, 2021

Earlier this school year, the Riverhead Central School District Board of Education accepted the donation of 10 No. 1 best-selling children’s books, “Rosie and the Power of Positivity Team,” written by Riverhead Executive Director for Curriculum, Instruction and Professional Personnel Dr. Lori Koerner and illustrated by Alexandria Masse. Additionally, two signed copies were donated to each elementary school.

“My life’s mission is to continuously improve the lives of children,” Dr. Koerner said. “It is an honor and a pleasure to donate 10 books distributed to each of our K-6 buildings so that our students can learn about acceptance, confidence, individuality and kindness from Rosie and her team. Thank you to our superintendent and to the members of our Board of Education for their support of this donation. Thank you to our faculty members for intertwining Rosie into the curriculum. I am so very grateful to be a part of this incredible school community.”

As a result of this generous donation, teachers throughout the district have used the book’s central message of acceptance, inclusivity, individuality and kindness to lead activities promoting the power of positivity and collectively brainstorming to reflect and share about of the positive things present in their lives.
