Dreidel We Will Play

December 9, 2020

Aquebogue Elementary School kindergarten teacher Karen Skop and resource teacher Marnie Busdeker recently collaborated to create a lesson on Hanukkah for their students.

The young students listened to the story “Schmelf the Hanukkah Elf” by Greg Wolfe and made connections between Hanukkah and Christmas. They also learned about Hanukkah traditions such as lighting the menorah, eating latkes and playing dreidel games. Each kindergartner received their own dreidel to take home.

“It’s so important for our students to gain a broad perspective and appreciation for different holiday cultural traditions, and I’m thankful they can have this experience,” said Principal Bryan Miltenberg.
