Third graders in Jennifer Cook’s class at Phillips Avenue Elementary School in the Riverhead Central School District have been busy honing their editing skills with witch fingers and neon glasses.
After writing their first personal narrative of the year, the students were prompted to edit their pieces by carefully inspecting their punctuation and capitals using a “witch finger” while wearing neon glasses.
“The kids loved the lesson,” said Cook. “The witch fingers and glasses helped to make a rather tedious task more engaging and fun.”
