Film Shorts Debut

October 1, 2020

Film shorts recorded by two Riverhead High School students recently premiered at the Parrish Art Museum and screened at the 2020 OLA Film Latino Film Festival.

The film shorts were the result of a series of two-hour workshops at Riverhead High School that commenced in January. The free program, sponsored by OLA Media Lab in collaboration with filmmaker Maria Maciak and advised by Claudette Garley Rottkamp, an ENL teacher, offered students the opportunity to learn how to tell their stories via film. The workshop, which was initially designed to be six sessions, continued virtually and in-person for several months after schools were closed in March due to COVID-19.
